SCHMINCKE'S TUMOR:  Report of a Case

ABSTRACT

The following case of Schmincke's tumor was observed :

About three years before this writing, J. C., a man, 36 years old, began to suffer pain over the left side of the face, particularly in the supra-orbital region. For the past fifteen months hearing on the left side had been reduced. The left side of the nose had been blocked for the past year. Nine months before this report he complained of blurred vision of the left eye. The oculist found vision reduced to 15/70. The patient had loss of central color perception and some contraction of the form fields in the left eye. A roentgenogram showed clouding of the left ethmoid and a suspicious circular shadow in that region. The diagnosis was retrobulbar neuritis. A left ethmoidectomy and submucous resection were done.
