In regard to the editorial in the January, 1963, issue of the Archives of Ophthalmology, "Cataract Surgery, Iridectomy and Retinal Detachment," I submit the following:We here in the Ram Lal Eye Hospital, Amritsar, India, have extensive experience with cataract extraction through a round pupil. The average number of operations carried out during a year varies between 2,000 and 2,500. We usually extract the lens in its capsule by the Modified Smith Indian Technique (Brit J Ophthal 41:487-491, 1957).This technique has developed and gradually evolved after Col.
