Volumes 3 and 4 of Modern Ophthalmology are the final two books of a four-volume set edited by Arnold Sorsby and written by the editor and his many expert contributors. In general, these recently published works continue the level of excellence set forth in the previous two volumes. These books provide an exceptionally clear and thorough discussion of many disease states that are, in fact, small monographs in themselves. In this sense, these volumes are ideal reference books, complete with bibliographic suggestions for further reading.
Volume 3 includes sections on: (1) "The Functional Anomalies of the Eye," in which, disturbances of ocular muscles, color vision, and accommodation are discussed; (2) "Maldevelopmental Defects," covering most developmental abnormalities that the average ophthalmologist would encounter; (3) "Tumors," elaborating upon recent methods of therapy, such as combined chemotherapy-radiation and photocoagulation; (4) "Injuries," dealing with the methods of localization and treatment of intraocular foreign bodies;
