ABSTRACT

This volume is again edited by Dr Herbert Kaufman, with coeditor, Dr Thomas Zimmerman. All the contributors are or have been associated with the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Florida or at Louisiana State University. As in the previous volume, the main emphasis is on corneal and viral diseases. The first article (by Goldman and Kaufman) excellently summarizes our present technical considerations in penetrating keratoplasties. A similar superb survey (by Olson and Kaufman) deals with viral keratoconjunctivitis. Two articles are on the corneal endothelium. One discusses it from a surgical point of view (by Katz and Kaufman) and the other from a laboratory point of view (by McCarey). A contribution by J. M. Enoch discusses vertebrate photoreceptor orientation. This information is not easily available to the ophthalmologist. William L. Blackwell presents a summary on clinical ophthalmic ultrasonography.

This volume continues the excellent tradition established by the preceding issues.
