AB For the past year and a half studies have been carried out in this laboratory on the toxicity of 1,2-dichloroethane (CH2Cl-CH2Cl). It was found that guinea pigs, mice, rats and rabbits were killed by only a few exposures of seven hours each to the vapor in concentrations as low as 400 parts per million. Dogs remained in good condition after nearly 200 exposures to a concentration of 400 parts per million, but with a concentration of 1,000 parts per million some of the animals died. The investigation is still in progress.
