The authors mentioned that in five patients in whom a Tenon's cyst developed, the cysts were partially excised and the eyes received daily injections of fluorouracil (0.5 to 1 mg) for 14 days. The Fluorouracil Filtering Surgery Study2 involved 5-mg injections administered twice daily for 7 days followed by a daily injection of 5 mg for 7 days (maximum dose, 105 mg). This resulted in a success rate of 73%. Eyes with successful results had an intraocular pressure of 21 mm Hg or lower at 1-year follow-up. Other researchers (A. L. Grajewski, MD, S. M. Cristol, MD, M. M. Wright, MD, and R. K. Parrish, MD, unpublished data, October 1991) noted that a reduced dose of 50 mg of fluorouracil over 14 days
