AB Automated perimetry has become a widespread technique for following and, in some instances, screening for glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmic conditions. In too many cases, however, those administering or interpreting the test results have a less-than-optimal knowledge of automated perimetry. This lack of expertise is partly due to the lack of clearly written documentation for this relatively new technology. Unfortunately, it is far too easy to position an 85-year-old patient who may have glaucoma in front of the analyzer and 20 minutes later generate a computer printout that has little or no significance.Dr Anderson has done a masterful job of correcting this deficiency. This book covers both basic and advanced concepts in automated testing. It is not intended to be a definitive encyclopedia of visual field testing; for example, there are limited references to isopters and hills of vision.
